Our viewpoint

We’ve engaged intensively with the topic of sustainability. In doing so, we have learned one thing: Sustainability means accepting conflicting goals. We are aware that there is no "perfect solution." But that does not stop us from moving forward. For us, sustainability is not about perfection, but about progress.

Implementation of our climate strategy – Road to Zero

At the end of 2024, a special initiative was launched to implement our climate strategy globally: “Road to Zero“.

Target: Greenhouse gas neutrality by 2033 in Scope 1 and 2

For us, this target means completely avoiding, reducing or offsetting greenhouse gas emissions through compensatory measures, so that, overall, no emissions are released into the atmosphere.

How do we achieve this goal?

Sustainability is firmly anchored at the highest level of our corporate strategy.

A sustainability steering committee meets monthly at VEGA’s head office. This committee takes strategic decisions regarding sustainability.

To achieve our goal, we’re focusing on the following levers:

 

Switching to green energy

We aim to switch 100% of our electricity procurement to green energy sources.

 

In-house production of clean energy

We invest in the expansion of our own facilities for generating renewable energy.

 

Electromobility

We aim to electrify our vehicle fleet and set new standards for clean mobility. 

 

Decarbonisation of our buildings

 Our locations are to be modernised by replacing fossil-fuel-based heating and cooling systems with efficient electric systems.

 

Energy efficiency

 We optimise processes and facilities to significantly reduce energy consumption and either prevent the generation of waste heat or utilise it effectively.

What have we already done?

Local sustainability coordinators

Each subsidiary has been tasked with developing its own strategies to achieve the set goals. Since the general conditions vary from country to country, we rely on the know-how of our local teams.

To this end, we have trained sustainability coordinators around the world who specifically focus on this topic.

These coordinators work closely with the sustainability managers at the headquarters in Schiltach. This has resulted in a network of over 30 employees who are actively working to implement our climate strategy.

Our products enable sustainability

The positive impact of our products is particularly noteworthy: Depending on the area of application, they actively contribute to protecting the environment and people.

Our level and pressure measuring instruments increase resource efficiency and facilitate environmental protection across a wide range of industries, from water and energy to chemicals and food.
