Second Line of Defense: A new level of safety

VEGA provides a “Second Line of Defense”, i.e. an additional gas-tight barrier, between the electronics compartment and the sensing element, ensuring that, in the event of a leak, hazardous media remain in the process and that the electronics are protected. Level switches

Pressure sensors

Pressure transmitters are absolutely necessary in the oil and gas industry for process pressure and hydrostatic pressure measurement as well as for differential pressure applications. Electronic or conventional differential pressure is used to measure the pressure, level, density and flow rate of liquids, suspensions, gases and vapours. Density measurement

In the challenging upstream and heavy oil processes, accurate density measurement is indispensable for reliably distinguishing between oil, water, emulsion and solids like sand, which form layers in process vessels. Radiometric systems enable continuous density monitoring and reliable detection of density differences, even under extreme process conditions and in the presence of thick, multi-layered emulsions. Where other technologies fail, they provide precise level and interface measurements – contactlessly, even through metal tank walls, insulation and heavy buildup. Radiation-based measurement is not affected by pressure, temperature, contamination or viscosity, and thus enables absolutely reliable monitoring as well as maximum process safety and optimisation in the oil and gas industry.
