Job Description:
We're actively seeking a dynamic and customer-focused individual to join us as an Internal Sales Engineer. This role is integral to our sales success, involving the development of positive relationships with customers and colleagues. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, possesses excellent communication skills, and has a strong technical background.
As an Internal Sales Engineer, you'll be pivotal in promoting our diverse range of products and services, focusing on generating new business and supporting existing clients. This involves managing customer interactions from initial enquiries to the preparation of detailed quotations and bid documents. Whether handling enquiries via telephone, email, web or action reports from our Field Sales Engineers, your role is crucial. Beyond this, you'll play a vital part in developing positive business relationships. Ultimately, your support to the sales team will significantly contribute to our overall business objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role, your main duties will include:
- Answering general and technical enquiries, providing advice, assistance and support to customers and Area Engineers through various communication methods.
- Qualifying incoming enquiries, developing calls and establishing potential business opportunities. Obtain and process information for informed decision-making and offer preparation.
- Utilising a bespoke CRM system to prepare quotations and technical bids. Managing and maintaining projects, enquiries and company correspondence.
- Qualifying and developing new and existing customers by researching profiles and collaborating with the sales team for accurate sales and support approaches.
- Liaising with Management, Sales, Projects and Technical Departments, Head Office, or suppliers to address technical queries from customers and staff.
- Generating necessary paperwork for quotations, orders and internal technical documents.
- Securing appointments for field sales engineers.
- Follow-up on quotations and facilitate the closure of offers/orders/bids when necessary.
- Adhering to good working practices and demonstrating a fundamental understanding of company operating procedures.
- Performing general office duties as required.
Key Skills and Requirements:
- Strong technical knowledge of instrumentation/engineering aptitude.
- Ability to use, read and analyse technical terms, and explain technical issues effectively.
- Good understanding of level control systems.
- Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree or equivalent experience.
- Engage in and comprehend discussions of a technical nature.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak technically.
- Self-motivated, well-organised and excellent time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Capable of performing calmly and accurately in high-pressure situations.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic sales environment.
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
- Understanding of the sales process and proficiency in obtaining information from customers and prospects.
- Proficient in MS Windows and Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- To be able to work to the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2015
